Since our last conversation with precision agriculture startup Motive, co-founder Angelo Monteiro and his team have been busy making the final preparation for Demo Day, the culmination of the Startupbootcamp IoT program. At a special event hosted at the London Science Museum on Wednesday 24th January, Angelo and his team will present Mothive in front of a packed crowd of over 300 investors, partners and potential customers.
We caught up with Angelo to discuss how the final weeks of Startupbootcamp IoT have been going, and what the future holds for Mothive after the program comes to an end...
Preparing for Demo Day...
The final weeks of the Startupbootcamp IoT program have been all about making preparations for delivering a great pitch on Demo Day, according to Angelo. This has involved finalising the documentation, putting together the perfect one-sider and creating a slide deck for the pitch itself. "It's been extremely hectic" he laughs.
"This type of accelerator program really offers a lot of insight and exposure into what's really required to grow a startup and begin a business" Angelo explains. "Meeting so many amazing people, both on the startup side and within the program, has definitely been a personal highlight for me."
The evolution of Mothive
Mothive has been in a constant state of evolution since Angelo and his team joined the Startupbootcamp IoT program. In particular, they have focused on adding more functionalities on the cloud and working on models to provide recommendations and alerts to farmers.
In terms of the business model, Angelo has focused on refining their outlook rather than making any sweeping changes. "Working with the mentors has really helped to bring more clarity to our thinking" he says. "What we have is definitely a lot more solid now than it was when we first joined the program."
The future...
Like most of the startups on the program, the Mothive team will focus on growth and investment as they leave the Startupbootcamp IoT accelerator and prepare to launch their product onto the market.
"We really want to use this experience to gain more traction, attract investors and look at growing the team" says Angelo.
