Renesas RX65 Envision Kit - Display Configuration for EastRising 5" TFT LCD display

The Envision kit comes with a Newhaven NHD-4.3-480272EF-ATXL#-CTP. I'm trying it out with an EastRising? SH500J15Z. It's pin-compatible with the original display, just a little taller. 5" instead of 4.3". 

Programs I wrote for the original work right away on the new display. Except for touch. It doesn't have a capacitive touch front pane. I ordered one. Hopefully it fits and is compatible with the RX65N graphics layer ...

Not the most interesting post. But it took a good day to get everything working. And may help someone that's trying to hook a similar display to the RX65N. (or myself in a few weeks when I forgot all of this).

  • Very useful info, since it will allow people to have really high-performance graphic displays! 

    Just curious, does the board use RAM internal to the RX65N, or is that a separate chip? I took a quick peek at the chip reference manual and it mentions that an external address/data bus is possible too. Looks like a very capable microcontroller.

    Growing up, this was the test card on screens here, with some random scary clown face! : )
