I have a minature vice and that is extremely useful for holding such as small connector pins in position.

The other trick was to hold the solder in your teeth - not recommended for leaded solder.

Looks great!  Until you torque slightly on the cord, and burn your hand....

Then you'd be back down to two hands.

    Dear Cabe

I would like to show you some useful tricks while soldering.

You have to take all the advantages of your hand and fingers. i.e. if you want to solder some wires there is a solution locking the wire between the 3rd and the 4th finger and holding the soldering with the two first. That's with the first hand and with other you keep the heater. Let me show you....

    Regards Chris

There are many methods to solder. The best method is the one you feel in comfort. It is like learning. Some learn by listening, some by reading and some by writing and examining. So it depends of the person himself/herself.

    Hi Chris,

No offense. I just wanted to write my thoughts about the soldering not to criticize you. Sorry if i did. Yours is just one of the methods i have been using for years and sure it works very

well. I just wanted to point out that the situation changes from people to people

    Sorry again,

    Chris,

I am going to try yo method tonight. I have to solder a few harnesses, and that looks like it's going to work out well.

I usually take a decently long piece of solder and wrap it around my ring finger that I hold the Iron in and use the middle finger to adjust its postion it with the object in the other hand.
