The suit code named XOS2 gives soldiers the ability to do the work of two or three men. This design is an improvement over the first XOS1 as it uses fifty percent less power and is more resistant to the elements. The suit itself is powered by high pressure hydraulics that can lift heavy loads such as bombs, missiles, and can greatly improve the safety of the wearer in a strategic or logistics environment. While not up to the standards of Tony Starks Ironman suit, it can be outfitted with different combat loads in any given situation. If you’ve ever had to wear an 80lb pack you know how tiring it can get after a few minutes of walking, but with this suit you could wear a 200lb pack and barely know it’s there. The Vice President of Operations Dr. Fraser Smith hopes to have these suits in the field by2015, “Getting exoskeletons deployed is inevitable. They are desperately needed, and I believe the military looks at them as viable solutions to a number of current issues they are trying to address. With a sustained commitment, they could be in place within five years.”
Unfortunately, the suit is still tethered for power. The XOS3 is supposed be wireless, but that is not for a while.
