I find there are many times where I say, "why didn't I think of that," to a very simple idea. This is one of them; a single button code entry for garage door. Somewhat like a kaypad you have on a garage door, but only one key. So, instead of typing in a code to open, you push the button a number of times to get the same result. You enter in one number, the button flashes, and you enter the second number and so on. What I like about this is the simplicity and security. Often enough I can see worn out keypad buttons and figure out what digits to hit, and I am sure people who want to get in can see the same. In fact, just type " 8008" first in any garage door keypad, it's probably the code.
The creator of the button, "Jumptruck," was kind enough to post the circuit, the code, and a tutorial on how to put it all together. Costing $21.40 and Based on the ATtiny13 this project is a must for some practice and experience. Only 333 lines of well commented C code too, this project is wide open for tweaking.
However, I am concerned that it will take a long time to input the numbers. I would like to see the same button idea work as fast as Morse Code. No criminal will see the button and say, " a button! I'll enter the Morse Code for the word 'tupac' "
