One of the guys here in work has been talking about the potential of the Kinect tool for the xbox 360. Kinect is Microsoft's video/radar tool to make games interactive; allowing interaction with the game without a controller. From wiki "The Kinect sensor is a horizontal bar designed to be positioned lengthwise above or below the video display. The device features an "RGB camera, depth sensor and multi-array microphone running proprietary software", which provides full-body 3D motion capture, facial recognition and voice recognition capabilities.
Hopefully great for gaming..but also a great entry for people wanting to get into 3d capture/mapping in fact almost anything you'd like. There is already tools released by a hacker
