Marvell HyperDuo is a breakthrough embedded technology for 6 GB/s SATA controllers. Configured with one hard drive and one SSD, HyperDuo uses intelligent algorithms to automatically migrate hot data to the SSD, while enabling all data to be safely stored on a larger capacity SATA HDD. Thus HyperDuo enables 80 percent of the performance of an SSD at one-third the cost. HyperDuo technology is available only on 88SE9130 and later controllers. Basically HyperDuo combines an HDD and SSD into a single logical unit. The technology works by using the SSD for caching the most frequently used data while keeping the less active data on the hard drive; however it appears to the user as one single hard drive or hard drive volume. Products featuring the 88SE9130 6GB/s SATA Controller are expected within the first quarter of 2011.
