congatec leverages AMD Embedded R-Series platform in COM Express Type 6 module featuring unprecedented graphics
conga-TFS offers superb integrated graphics performance along with an excellent performance-per-watt ratio for demanding applications
Deggendorf, Germany, 22 May 2012 * * ** congatec AG, a leading manufacturer of embedded computer modules sets another milestone offering support of the AMD Embedded R-Series platform with the new conga-TFS COM Express module based on Type 6 pinout. The integration of AMD Embedded R-Series APU expands the COM Express standard with a new module that combines power efficient high-performance x86 processing, unprecedented integrated graphics performance and high performance parallel processing support. The conga-TFS enables multimedia advancements and an exceptional visual experience across applications.

congatec currently offers three variants of the AMD R-Series APU on the conga-TFS ranging from the dual-core AMD R-272F APU up to the quad-core AMD R-464L APU. The conga-TFS uses the AMD A70M Controller Hub to deliver a powerful compact 2-chip solution with support for up to 16GB dual-channel 1600MHz DDR3 memory.
The integrated graphics core supports DirectX 
11 and OpenGL 4.2 for fast 2D and 3D graphics. The third generation hardware Unified Video Decoder offers seamless processing of H.264, VC-1, MPEG4 Part 2 and MPEG2 video streams. The conga-TFS offers a choice of graphics interfaces including VGA, 18/24bit single/dual channel LVDS as well as three DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 1.4 and two Single link DVI interfaces enabling the direct control of three independent displays.
Software developers can take advantage of APU programmability through proven standards such as Direct Compute (Microsoft) and OpenCLTM. And the portability of OpenCL allows programmers to preserve their expensive source code investment across multiple product generations. OpenCL is a powerful programming environment with which computing tasks can be distributed across a variety of architectures involving a number of hardware compute units. This is of crucial importance in our customers’ applications that tend to execute a variety of workloads and must do it both cost and power efficiently.
Seven PCI Express 2.0 x1 lanes, PCI Express 2.0 x8 link, four SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, four SATA 6Gb/s ports, one Gigabit Ethernet interface and high definition audio round off the comprehensive range of features.
The congatec board controller provides an extensive embedded PC feature set. The independent x86 processor makes functions such as system monitoring or the I²C bus faster and more reliable, even if the system is in standby mode.
