cannot send a picture(.epd) serially from hyperterminal!

hello everyone,

I am trying to transmit a picture (.epd file) serially from my PC's usb port to the microcontroller (uC's SPI).

I am using FTDI Basic Breakout to convert USB to serial port and then connect RX, and TX to the microcontroller.

I am using hyperterminal, I set it to the right COM port and right baud rates and ... then I choose Transfer-> send file-> select my .epd file then -> send. however it opens up a window and nothing happens. I dont know what this could mean? I am sure I am connected to the right port( FTDI PORT11), and all the connections are right. I have attached the picture of screen that i am getting.

any ideas?

thanks

Can I just ask.. you've connected a serial port, as in RS232, to SPI ?  These are very different things and not something you would expect to communicate with each other.

That aside if you are actually connecting to an RS232 port on the microcontroller, John is correct, your photo shows hyperterminal using Zmodem, so unless you've implemented the Zmodem protocol on the microcontroller it will either sit like that forever or eventually time out with an error.

It's very unlikely you'd want to use X/Y/Zmodem protocols for anything today.
