UK Conference to Address Software Reliability

UK Conference to discuss coding standards and development tools for the development of software for safety critical and highly reliable systems.

The UK's first "Reliable Software Developers’ Conference" has been announced; a conference that will explore the coding standards, training and development tools that engineers and programmers can adopt for the development of software for safety critical and highly reliable systems.

The Reliable Software Developers’ Conference will be one-day event that will take place in Bristol (May 20th), Cambridge (May22nd), Manchester (June 2nd) and Uphall, Scotland (June 5th).

The conference will consist of a series of expert presentations, a half-day workshop and a vendor exhibition. Access to the presentations is free to engineers and developers, but a charge of £75+vat will be made for places on the workshop.

"Today's software programs may have millions of lines of code, and may execute millions of instructions per second," said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. "To have certain knowledge that the code will behave in a predictable manner is a very tall order. It’s a considerable challenge. This conference is for those engineers and programmers that have to face this challenge as a part of their daily work.”

The half-day workshop at the RSD-Conference will explore the new MISRA C:2012 coding standard and will discuss how this is applied to real world projects and also what tools are available to developers and project managers for the testing of code compliance and performance.

“Those working in the field of embedded systems development and real-time computing are working hard to introduce new coding standards that enforce safety and reliability,” said Richard Blackburn. “There is also huge investment going into the development of software tool that can analyse code behaviour to ensure reliable performance in the field.”

The RSD-Conference will be sponsored by leading debug tool company, Lauterbach, software training experts Feabhas and computer board manufacturer Eurotech.  This year’s event is to be co-located with The UK Device Developers’ Conference, a conference for developers of intelligent systems and devices. http://www.device-developer-conference.co.uk

About the RSD-Conference

The RSD Conference is a one-day event for software developers working in the field of safety critical and high-availability systems. It will be an important opportunity to learn about developments in coding standards, test and verification tools, best practices and an opportunity to meet with industry experts.

This year’s event is taking place over four days in four locations throughout the UK:  Bristol on 20th May, Cambridge on 22nd May, Manchester on 3rd June and Scotland on 5th June – http://www.rsd-conference.co.uk
