Hello,
I want to make a general purpose crossover filter. I have chosen an input frequency of 2400Hz, Please tell me whether inductors of the ELC18 series support crossover filters or not.

Hello,
Thank u so much for replying, but i want to design a simple crossover filter for my 2 Ohm tweeter and 4 Ohm woofer.
I just want to know what type of inductor i can use for this purpose that is available on element14.
Can i use any 18 D choke for this purpose ??
This is a case where you should do some Googling and learn a bit more about crossover filters.
There is a pdf here: www.jaycar.co.uk/images_uploaded/crossovr.pdf
which gives some simple designs.
Are you sure your tweeter is really 2R - this is unusually low.
Inductors for crossover filters frequently use air cored inductors at higher frequencies - this is because they don't saturate and have much lower distortion.
Here's a link to some instructions about making inductors for crossovers: Shavano Music Online - Cross-Over Network; Air Core Inductor Calculator

Thanks for replying, but i have searched a lot and am clear with the concept.
But my doubt is still the same.
Is there any inductor available in element14 for the same ?
Plz help.
I don't really understand your problem - the E14/Farnell website has a good search engine - are you really telling me that you can't search for an inductor on it ?
Have you worked out what value you need, what is the closest standard value - do Farnell have any ?
If you get to the point where you have located some parts and want to know if they will be OK to use then come back and ask but don't expect other people to do everything for you.
You need to be sure that the rated current of the part you choose is OK for your speaker power.
BTW - why not wind your own and do the job right ?
