Looking for obsolete part datasheet

davidcruickshank
davidcruickshank over 6 years ago

Hi there. I've got a huge box of old mice (approx 150) for parts, and a couple of dozen of the Dell ones have a Cypress Semi CP6238BM mcu on them. I'm trying to find a datasheet for them.  Digikey and Mouser both say this is an obsolete / end of life part, Octopart, Ciiva, and AllDatasheets don't have the datasheet and refer me to Mouser or Digikey. Cypress itself does not have the part listed anywhere I can find on their website.

All I want to do is find out what they do and if I can repurpose them. I'm turning to you guys to try to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Our of curiosity I did a search for the CP6238 and the best I could come up with was this hack:

Adding a middle mouse button to a Kensington Orbit | Hack van de dam

The hack mentions a Cypress CY7C63813 low-speed USB peripheral, which is available in an 18-pin plastic DIP like the CP6238.  The CY7C63813 data sheet is available.  It may be that the pinouts are compatible.  If the connections are the same as in your mice the CY7C63813 data sheet may be of some use.
