If you've ever been to a haunted house you've seen how the scares come down to a teenager growling at you when you turn a corner. There has not been anything new for years. I think it is about time for advancement in tech. Just like we need an advancement in tech with graphing calculators, but that is another story.
The innovations made in just the past 5 years has given an unprecedented amount of control, sensing, and visuals capabilities for very little money. Easy to program for development boards has let people with very limited programming experience make seemingly complicated devices. So where are my micro-controller actuated zombies?
Even though it is not so recent of a development, I would like to see Ferrofluid make an appearance on some boring mechanical monster. And it is fairly easy to control too. Here is an example of what it can do, when I first saw this I was a bit startled by the effects:
