Embedded video player project

I would like to create an embedded (into a larger product) video player that interacts with a user.  The processor reads some switches, and decides on which short movie to play.  These small movie files in .mov, .wmv, or similar popular format.  If no switches are hit, the micro may loop one of the default movies (to keep an animation going).  These movies are displayed on a small LCD panel, like a QVGA sized one.

Does anyone know examples of this?  Preferably existing into a board kit that I can purchase such as this one:

http://www.element14.com/community/roadTests/1105

However, I do not know if this board can play short movies.

My budget for each is about $200.

Thank you for reading.

You may want to look at Linux single board computer (SBC) like the BeagleBone ($90) or Raspberry Pi ($35).  I've seen several LCD solutions for the BeagelBone like http://www.chalk-elec.com/.  For the Pi, it has composite and HDMI video output, but no way to directly interface a LCD yet that I've seen.  However, if you're video isn't HD, then a composite-input LCD may suit your needs with the Pi.  For example: http://adafruit.com/products/913

In terms of playback control, both the Bone and Pi have GPIO pins so it is simple to have it read a couple switches.  See this Pi tutorial for example: http://learn.adafruit.com/playing-sounds-and-using-buttons-with-raspberry-pi/overview.  For BeagleBone, see this: http://mattrichardson.com/blog/2012/03/08/beagle-bone-and-linux-gpio/
