STM32F4Discovery ( IDE, compiler, toolchain...)

Question

Hi all,

I want to set up an envoirement for programming a STM32F4Discovery, I have tryed out Eclipse + Yagarto toolchain, and Coocox, but I am not really still convinced.

Today I will to do the same with the free versions of IAR and Attolic, but....

Can anyone tell me about thier preferences and experience with these (or any other) envoirements for the stm32f4?

I hope it can also helps to many other people.

Hi gihu,

No direct experience with STM32F4 yet, but you could try this guide I wrote for STM32F0: http://www.hackvandedam.nl/blog/?p=707

http://www.hackvandedam.nl/blog/?p=707In general, you'll have to do the same: set up the libraries and search paths, and find the linker file and startup script. Finding out the debugging commands can sometimes be a bit tricky, but this has worked for me for STM32F0 and STM32F3. With a bit of work I also got a reliable toolchain going for EnergyMicro (with Segger J-Link).

In short, my toolchain works with GCC (arm-none-eabi), Code::Blocks IDE and openocd for debugging. Very happy with it, using it both on Linux and Windows.
