Embedded group or not?

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hi,

I have been posting questions in the Wireless group but getting zero responses regarding the Discovery WIFI module. As the module is WI-FI (wireless) I thought it was the right place, but it is also an embedded product. Would the embedded group be a better place to post my question?

i suppose it depends whether your or not your asking about the wireless portion.

it is possible one of the threads has the answer your looking for http://www.element14.com/community/search.jspa?q=Discovery+WIFI+module

I don't know which is the right place either but since you are stuck I'll chip in. I've done a lot with STM32FXXX parts but I don't know anything about the module you are working with. If the JTDI pin is missing why not try the ULINK in SW mode which needs only TCLK, TMS and the chip reset (not the JTAG reset). It can work without the chip reset but not always. One issue you can get is if the software disables the debug modes you have to connect under reset (an option in the Keil debug tab). Sometimes when a chip gets in a bad state I have had to go through many combinations of debug settings to get control again.

I'm sure you'll have access to the Keil pin outs for SW mode but if not:

    sheldon,

I have seen the questions posted which were found using your search, none of them come near to the issues I have, but thanks for the reply!

    Michael,

Thanks for the reply. I don't think that JTDI is really missing, it's the documentation  table 2-1 that I think is wrong as the schematic shows that JTDI is in the correct place, but maybe that is incorrect as well? I don't understand why tec support are not interested, after all it is their product, and it appears that their document is incorrect. I will try SW mode, but I think there is some other problem, I have to wait until tomorrow to see if another approach will solve it. The only reason I decided to re-flash the firmware was because I thought I had caused a problem with the firmware. I could not get resolve name to work, as the command is missing from the demo host software maybe it's just not working! It's odd because it did work from the server side.

    Dave.

I have got this working now. For some reason the hex file was corrupting every thing. I had to use Uvision4 and ulink2 to erase the firmware then used Coflash and colinkEx to re-flash using the bin file not hex, now I am back to working hardware. The pdf attached above is incorrect, but J3 schematic appears to be correct.
