K430WQA-V4-F LCD interfacing on pic

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

I am trying to change the LCD in my pre existing board. Initially I was using a 14 pin BM096064-910WTGE which is a 096*064. But i want to upgrade to K430WQA-V4-F which is a 40 pin coloured touch screen. I dont have all this pins available, any help on how to configure the pins on a PIC would be helpful especially the 24 pins four blue, green and red colour data

    Hi Clem, Thanks, for your insight into this. However my problem is not on the pic side, it is on the lcd side especially the conection of the RGB pins. how is it done for this kind o f LCD?

    Hi Juma,

    There is not enough information here (you have not stated what board or what PIC you have), but by going by the 14-pin and 40-pin difference you mention, the 40-pin display has no LCD controller - it would need something with more resources than a PIC - memory, speed, the need for >24 pins, etc..

    Thanks shabaz, I am using pic 18F66j11. My board is self made actually it is something that ha been working with a normal LCD with 14 pins and using either I2C or SPI protocols. However I now want to upgrade to this graphical, colour and touch LCD. The problem is that I do not understand how to connect the RGB lines; for instance do you connect all the pins for rg and b from MSB to LSB on different pins on the pic?

    @juma stephen,

    Looking at page 6 on the datasheet gives all pins. The PIC you mentioned depends on the DIP versus QFN meaning the number of pins. Here the 28 DIP version uses a technique of reprogramming to changing the pin functions. See datasheet.

    To understand how to interface with LCD, take a look at this @http://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-73789/l/episode-169-ben-hecks-fpga-lcd-driver-hack-episode
