Substitute 4 or 8mbit Serial FLASH memory

dieseltech69
dieseltech69 over 9 years ago

Looking for a substitute for the following flash memory chip: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjJ3e_-qLjPAhVJcj4KHcGYArkQFgge…

AMIC A25L040 4mbit serial flash, for building a FIGnition SBC (https://sites.google.com/site/libby8dev/fignition/documentation/build-it-rev-d )

Apparently, no longer manufactured. Doesn't necessarily need to be a DIP package, could use something else like SOP. Not sure what I can substitute. Maybe this:

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Microchip-Technology/SST26VF016B-104V-SM/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtI%252bQ06EiAoG0OmiBrmKUkP6MU…

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to electronics and trying to "learn by doing". Thanks

    Hi,

Pay attention there are several key differences between Serial flash memories.

The closest memory to AMIC A25L040 is probably the older SST25VF040B.

However, SST25 are not recommended for new design and when possible it is recommended to use SST26....

If you have a driver for the AMIC A25L040, you'll need to adapt it

    Regards
