How to learn the FPGA

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Hello everyone .I am a student in China. I always have an question about FPGA.Though I have learned the FPGA for one years,I think i

just know it a little.

At first, I bought a development board about FPGA. And I learn that I can use the verilog to light the led and the modules in it. I learn the state machine.

Now suddlenly,I feel I can't improve my skill about FPGA. I'm very confused. I hope the experter can answer my qusetion.

(This is my first time to write English essay.Maybe there are some error in it and sorry for that  )

I'm no FPGA expert (that's probably a good thing in this case) but I would recommend a good book. It is easy to get carried away with the vast power of the Internet, but it is not very good at producing a good well-edited linear course of education. The result of that is that there is just too much information on the Internet, and you end up learning very little.

    Mike.

Hi, I know you're doing Verilog but there is a very good book called "FPGA Prototyping by VHDL Examples" by Pong P. Chu which is written for a Xilinx Spartan 3 board.

    Hi,

There is a version called "FPGA Prototyping by Verilog examples" which could be of help as a resource book. You can download from the web I think. I agree, it is useful to have a project in mind and try and get this working when you have got some of the basic ideas.  I tried to make a GPS syncronised pulse generator ( 1 pulse per second) which was a challenge but I learned a lot.

    Cheers,

    Lee.

    我的理解是你可能需要更多的实践经验,别忘了实践出真知。
