    Same as with any hidden wi-fi, you need to register the mac address on the wi-fi, then the network will become visible to the Pi.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Thanks for a good answer Paul. Realize a hidden SSID is NOT secure. Use WPA2 as the best encryption. I have seen quite a few Internet discussions on securing hot spots.

    @Clem

    I understand that a hidden SSID is not secure in its own that is why I have couple it with WPA2 key. I have hidden my network so that it is not visible to those I wish to not have on it is all.

    Just a Google and find Try kismet for detecting hidden 802.11 wireless networks - TechRepublic  So long as they know nothing, maybe they can be fooled. Even WPA/WPA2 can be cracked if you have pre-shared keys. So set a 63 character password composed of random characters including special symbols. See Online Password Calculator  for a test of strength versus time.If you are serious about this subject invest time and look at DD-WRT for security and other nice features like ad blocking and network drive.

    If you don't need to advertise the presence of your WiFi hotspot, then hiding it is a reasonable addition to your layered security model.

    Thanks,

    will have to reimage the SD card and try from scratch (twill be easier than trying to correct all the stuff I have already done to it).

    will post a follow up tomorrow or Sat.
