How do I activate my 'Soft Design License' with the Altium Nanoboard3000

Hello element14,

I sent the email below to Altium in the hope of getting help with a problem registering with and then activating my 'Soft Design License' that comes with the Altium Nanoboard 3000 I purchased from Farnell (element14).

Is anyone here able to help?

------------------email-----------------------

Hello,

Can you please confirm that I have now registered with Altium by sending email please?

I registered online and again via my Nanoboard3000 'Soft Design License' procedure.

But when I follow instructions after starting up Altium Designer Environment to enter my user name and press the 'Restart Password' button, I get the following message:

'An error occured when reseting your password'

The username I was given was told to use was my email

Also, no email has been received yet so I dont know if I have to wait 24 hours for example.

If you can't help, can you please point me in the right direction.

Regards,

Richard Trought

Well, finally found out that emails from Altium were being treated as Spam, so I did receive Altium Live Sign in details. Now a new problem is that the nanoboard is not being recogniesd by the Altium Design Software.

The Altium Design Software seems to initially detect the nanoboard 3000 because it gives the following message when started:

"Altium Designer is currently unlicensed. Would you like to create a Design license that can be used to create soft designs for exclusive use with your Nanoboard?

If you already have an Altium Designer license, you can click No."

But after clicking 'yes' I get the error message: 'unable to locate nanoboard'.

I am running a PC with windows XP, with firewall allowing the DXP to manage things.

I'm looking at the following to see if it may explain the problem:

    Data Management -Version Control:-

CVS - Concurrent Versions System (disabled)

    SVN - subversion  (enabled)

Any feedback would be apprieciated. (Richard)

    Hello.

After a couple more emails from Altium Support, I am glad to say my soft Design License has now been set up in my Altium Design 10 software.

It was a couple of problems to do with AltiumLive accounts, Altium Support Centre accounts, and Altium Design 10 support for a Nanoboard 3000 Soft Design License.

So now for the exciting bit... FPGA design image

    Hi Richard,

Glad to hear Altium Support were able to sort out your issues.

In case anyone else experiences the same problem, try this:

    >>>

Soft Design License activation precautions using Release 10

A NB3000 hardware includes a 1 year Soft Design License. Unfortunately the license request fails when Release 10 or newer is used. The following error message shows up:

    ---------------------------
    Error
    ---------------------------
    Unable to locate your NanoBoard.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

although the NB3000 is connected to the PC. To enable the user to activate the Soft Design license the portal settings in menu

    DXP>>Preferences>>System>>Account Management

needs to be changed from portal2 to portal1:

    portal1.altium.com
    portal1.altium.eu
    portal1.altium.com.cn

Then the user is able to activate the Summer 09 Soft Design license and this license is listed in AltiumForce. The fact that the user can activate the license himself is especially helpful in case the NB3000 was purchased e.g. via
amazon.com or another distributor since the license is not listed in AltiumForce until it was activated.

ATTENTION: The login information for Summer 09 is the Altium SUPPORTcenter login information whereas the Altium Designer 10 login information is the AltiumLive login. But both logins can be adjusted (by the user) to have the same password which reduces irritation.

Afterwards the license needs to be changed to a Release 10 Soft Design license in AltiumForce by an Altium employee and also the ‘Right To Upgrade Expiry Date’ needs to be adjusted to include the same expiration date the ‘End Date’ entry lists.

After this change the user can be notified to switch back the portal settings in menu

    DXP>>Preferences>>System>>Account Management

    from portal1 to portal2:

    portal2.altium.com
    portal2.altium.eu
    portal2.altium.com.cn

in order to be able to use the Release 10 Soft Design license.

    <<<

    Cheers,

    Monika
