Skateboarding Problem

Former Member

I am think of making a skateboard that has trucks the way shopping cart wheels turn, so you can ride, in theory, in all directions. I was wondering if you tried to turn the way you turn on a normal skateboard, would you turn regularly or spin out? If so, why?

Are the wheels going to turn 360 degrees or just 180?

There are a lot of differnt variables to think about for example how tight will the bearing turning the wheel will be, size of the wheels and the bearings on them, how tight the trucks are and so on. But my theory is that it would make riding the board a lot harder. Having each wheel being independent would be unstable. for example lets say you are riding down a hill in a straight line, then one of the wheels desides to turn. You will slam it happens with shopping carts. If you want a bit more stability you would need to have the wheels conneted so they turn the same way. like how cars front tires work. But the best way to test it out is to build it image
