upcycleing a old laptop screen

i need help with turning a laptop screen and making a monitor for my setup and i have no experiance with this stuff. electronics is not my fortay. ok so what i want to do is take the wires and splice them to a hdmi or vga cable and i dont want to spend 30+ bucks on the controller thing you buy off ebay. so some one please help me
