Combined gps, gsm/gprs and sim on chip circuit question

Hello.

We are in the beginning of designing and creating a gps tracker. We want to see how small and power efficient we can make it.

The trouble is that we are designers and not engineers, so we are at loss when it comes to where to start when it comes to prototype this.

We got some experience with arduinoes and simple coding but nothing like this.

 

Is there companies/places to contact that can help out to make small runs of custom made circuitboards? That can help with components picking, power usage and other support?

All help appreciated.

  • There are lots of design companies and they range from one man businesses like my own to international corporations employing thousands of people.

     

    The common factor is that they don't work for free.

     

    Small players are often cheaper, large players can do big projects.

     

    But your problem is that you are asking for basic research - "how small and power efficient"  - everyone in the GPS game is trying to do that - and with multimillion $£ budgets !

     

    So to advise you at all I would suggest that you need to tell us your budget and where you are.

     

    But the fact that you are asking this question suggests to me that you need someone with commercial product development experience in your organization.
