Searching for soldering battery pin

balearicdynamics
balearicdynamics over 9 years ago

Hi to all. I have a problem due my lack of knowledge in the naming (and probably some other knowledge image

I should design a custom battery holder based on a standard type of batteris, formerly the Canon LP-E8 1300 mAh (this is a model link on Amazon: https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B00IHZ3E8A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

Unfortunately I have no idea what is the name of this kind of soldering connector but I support that exists...

In attach a detailed explanation of the connectors used in the compatible battery charger

Thank you in advance. Enrico

Hi Enrico, Oh, I see. So the battery has the springy pieces, and the charger just has the fixed blades? I'm not sure what could be suitable : ( It could be worth contacting Keystone, they may have something…

    Hi Enrico!

Possibly these types of pins may work: Spring Loaded Contacts & Probes | Farnell element14

The battery might use custom contacts made for Canon, but if it is just a flat metal contact area then

the spring-loaded contacts at that link could work.

    Hello Shabaz!

Thank you for your answer. After a couple of hours of tries I have found these contact too, but as far as I know these are sort of cylinders while the battery charger (the official one) holds the batteries with lamellar contacts. It is true that probably these are sort of standard Canon, but as there are lot of Chinese compatible batteries and chargers I expect that these male and female soldering contacts are available on the electronic components market. In few words, just like saying "Philips plug" or similar. I will update the question with a couple of more detailed images now

    Hi Enrico,

Oh, I see. So the battery has the springy pieces, and the charger just has the fixed blades?

I'm not sure what could be suitable : (

It could be worth contacting Keystone, they may have something appropriate. They do battery

    contacts etc.

Or if it is low volume, maybe something like this could be bent into a straighter shape with a home-made press/jig for consistency:

I'm thinking the easiest way os tho find a cheap asian sourced supplier, or find some suitable terminals and mould your own.

They almost appear to be a board to board style connector.

You do give us the tricky questions.   image
