TENMA 72-2540 72-2535 72-2545 72-2550 driver for WIN10

Hello, I just purchased 2 TENMA 72-2540 72-2540 programmable power supplies 30V 5A I have problem to get the USB serial driver working on Windows 10 : 1 - opposite to pdf documentation, no USB driver was present on the DVD, I downloaded it from an Element14 post 2 - Windows device Manager can see it as a USB-K-R Com Port, but no way to communicate, either with the supplied software or a terminal emulation utility 3 - when I plug the devide, no beep on the PC, Unknown device message 4 - under terminal emulation (I use the excellent ucon), the TENMA unit beeps sometimes, independent of *IDN? requests, no reply to this request. Has anyone succeeded in operating this power supply under Windows 10 ? Thanks for your help jef

I found the solution (on other forums) - it works with WIN10 - it is not easy to find and install the right USB serial driver (no driver in the DVD supplied with the PSU, pity) best source is another post on element14 Protocol information for Tenma 72-2550 and Tenma 72-2535, Q&A, window driver - to get the USB serial driver to work, you might have to go to Device Manager, select the option to see unconnected devices, and deinstall other COM ports and USB controllers Then the supply 72-2540 72-2540 utility will work -.But if (like me) you want to address this unit with you own software, you have to consider this undocumented point : THE TENMA SERIAL or USB INTERFACE EXPECTS THAT CHARACTERS ARE SENT WITHOUT INTER-CHARACTER DELAY (and with a 'significant' delay and no CR/LF between commands) No chance to get a reply to *IDN? using a terminal emulator (as stated in the pdf documentation) unless you type at light speed, or you group the 5 characters to send them at once.

 I know this is a very old post and you may have already managed to communicate with this TENMA power supply. 
 
 But I have developed a python-based driver on Windows 10 to communicate with this power supply.
