Hi,
I am looking for a way to use arduino or raspberry Pi to detect Chemical Elements in water, but not sure how to do it or where to start.
I have both plus mac and Windows server.
this is a new project and need some advice.
Mick

you could start by doing something relatively simple but useful such as measure biochemical oxygen demand in water samples from rivers/ponds etc. You can buy the sensor and you do the Java, which seems to be your main interest...Peter

Do you know what those things cost? He would be much better off (from a cost perspective) measuring pH (hydrogen ion concentration) as I suggested in an earlier post. pH electrodes can be had for much less than DO sensors. DO and pH both important parameters in the monitoring of natural waters. BOD is a different matter usually applied to waste water. It involves measuring the decline in DO over time in the presence of bacteria in order to determine how much oxygen is required to oxidize the nasty stuff in the water to the point where it can be returned to the river etc.
