Replacing Li-ion battery in speaker with wall power

Hello, just wanted to start by thanking you for answering my question.

 

I have a speaker whose usb charging port died, and am looking to replace the 3.7 volt 1800 mah battery with power from the wall. I don't think a picture is needed currently, but there are red/black wires from the battery which are soldered directly onto the board. I dont have any supplies as of yet other than a raspberry pi 3, and am looking for solutions, thanks again.

    Hi Harry, If you remove the battery completely, then you can examine the board to see if you can power from 5V. Its inadvisable to go higher than that, in case components on the board are only specified…

    Hi Harry,

     

    If you remove the battery completely, then you can examine the board to see if you can power from 5V. Its inadvisable to go higher than that, in case components on the board are only specified for a low voltage like 5V or lower. Once you've determined that, you could use something like this DC power connector extension leadDC power connector extension lead and cut it in half, and wire the socket end onto the circuit board (and discard the other end or keep it for a future project). Possibly, you may find the audio quality not as good as when it ran on a battery, if it was designed for battery only operation, but I couldn't say for sure.
