Hello community
I’m writing because I’m doing a special project that consists in creating a cubesat for a high school competition. We have decided that will sense IR / RGB photos, and do magnetic measurements, particle detection, electric field measurements (EM at the Ionosphere), and different UV bands measurements. We don’t know which sensors use, or which are the best sensors to buy.
One of the rules of this competition is that cubesats will work with the NASA cFS (Core Flight System) and for that reason, at the beginning of this project we thought to use an RPI 3, but before to post this question we decide that it’s better to use the TMS570LS0714 MCU, but we don’t know how configure to be ready, to be used and programmed. We have done a lot of research, but we don’t know how to do a PCB with this MCU and all those sensors.
In the aspect of power which solar panels and batteries use can we use? Because Lithium-Ion batteries can explode and performance of commercial solar panels are very poor. By the moment we don’t know which will be the power budget, but how can we manage all these amount of electricity of our CubeSat? It’s software or hardware question?
In my last post a user warned us about radiation SEL/SEUs and their danger, if someone can tell us an easy or clear solution in software or hardware to fix this problem, it will be very nice.
We know that there are many questions, but we are high school students trying to begin a CubeSat project. Our speciality it’s programming, not electronics, so if you can help us with technical details it would be very nice…
Thank you so much in advance
