Pcb manufacturers for large boards (31"x17"x0.286" 40 layers)

40 layers!?

Could maybe get away with 36. It is a tester interface board with a lot of separated signals, so lots of

ground layers. That is why it is 0.286" (7.25 mm) thick.

Hello James, this isn't very helpful of me but I'm really puzzled.

A pcb such as you describe is HUGE - so how is that you are designing such a monster but have no experience of getting such stuff built.

(Most people working with such things have a big investment in CAD tools and signal integrity simulation etc.)

Is there no way you can break it into multiple boards.

AS I'm sure you know, you'll get plenty of hits on Google.

These people keep asking me for work - haven't used them so take care.

I work for a subcontract pcb layout office using Cadence Allegro cad tools and one of the things we do on a regular basis is make ic test interface boards that

fit testers made by Teradyne (Iflex) for example. Our most common size is 16" x 16" x 0.25" 26 layers with an extended version at 25" length. These are manufactured

in China by an excellent company called Corad. At the moment we have a request to design and manufacture 2 boards to be used on an Agilent tester requiring

the dimensions listed above. This is too big for our current supplier hence the search for someone with a bigger capacity.

The link that you give seems interesting as they quote " Max. finished size is 22.5*33.5inch,layer count 1~40 layers ".

Thanks for the info - always nice to know what other people do - I don't ever get to more than 6 layers !
