I bought an XBOX One S second hand, and I should have expected something along the lines of humidity damage when I saw it was shipping from Hawaii. I bought the console for the reason that it won’t power on. It will turn on and turn off almost immediately afterwards without a power down sound. Now when I received the console this wasn’t the case... I turned on the console and it stayed on, there was nothing on the display but it stayed on. It would continuously do this, as I got frustrated, I decided to leave it on. 15 minutes into my TV show, I see across the room on the screen ‘Preparing console... Do not unplug or turn off the console’ or something like that. I got excited and just left it. Now I’ve never owned one of these so I wasn’t aware there was supposed to be a progress bar, so I’m not sure if it ever popped up. Afterwards it showed the screen in the photo attached. I saw it and hastily created a offline USB update drive or something like that (the controller did interact with it just fine). Once I got that in I told it to do the offline update, which failed and gave an E101 error (I didn’t take a picture). So I then went and selected reset this Xbox and told it to remove everything. I then went and took a shower, when I came back about 5 minutes later, the system was off. When I went to turn it on it did what the seller said it was doing. I turned it on and it immediately turned off without a power down noise. I checked and there are no shorts out of the ordinary around the APU and the 12V rail isn’t shorting either. I’ve been trying to figure out if there is power going to the south bridge but I’m not exactly sure how to do that. I replaced the internal power supply and it has the same issue. I’m not sure what the problem is because it did work after it was diagnosed with the exact issue I am having now to only have the issue again. This is confusing me. I would really appreciate anyone’s help. I asked over on iFixit two days ago but no one has responded, then trying to look around in one of the latest posts here I found someone with somewhat of the same problem except he has a power down sound.
Edit: When I continuously try to turn the system on, occasionally it will turn on for a little longer, long enough for the fan to spin to operating speed and for the HDD to spin up, but it’s still not making the power down sound when it turns itself off even when it turns on a little longer. This only happens about 20% of the time and if you keep going it will happen more often. I was thinking what if I took 2 hours out of a day of just sitting there turning it on to see if I could even get back to the troubleshooting screen.
