Single Board PC for .Net and Visual Studio Code (ubuntu)

Question

Hello Everybody, for a charity program I am looking for the lower price / max efficiency single board computer, that allows me to run Visual Studio Code.

I have already tried Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with 4GB RAM, but without success, I made 2 attempts:

1) I installed Raspian but wasn't able to install VS Code,

2) I tried installing Ubuntu, but the raspberry neither arrived to bootstrap the desktop.

If from your experience, you have tried and succeeded to install Visual Studio Code and .Net Core, please tell me the board you have used and the final experience.

I know that from low cost solutions cannot reach miracles, but the challenge is that, having a low cost solution to develop .net project

You noted that you could not install on RPI. I came across this tailored VS code build for RPI and Chrome Books on GitHub. Did you ever give this a go? Appears to be a fairly active github page. https://github.com/headmelted/codebuilds

Yes I've used one, it can come with Microsoft Windows 10. Active cooling can help it to function.

As much as any powerful single board computer gets hot (Raspberry Pi 3-4, BeagleBone AI, etc.), yes.

Ok, I'm not quite answering the question, but your question about .Net reminded me of the Netduino boards . I see there is now a new board on the market, called Meadow, which packs a punch. According to the website it runs full .NET Standard 2.0 Libraries. https://www.wildernesslabs.co/Meadow
