multicomp.pro (MP720017) oscilloscope software question

gwelling
gwelling over 5 years ago

Does anyone know if the software that comes with the multicomp.pro (MP720017) oscilloscope runs on MacOS as well as Windows?

I'm assuming that it is Windows based software as the product's name includes "PC USB Oscilloscope".

The reason I ask is that I have lots of old Macs lying around, but not too many Windows based laptops.

I know bitscope has one that will work on the mac osx  and linux as well.   you can check their software here https://www.bitscope.com/software/

As far as multicomp you would probably have to run a virtual machine and run a install of windows on it  or attempt something like running wine on it.  https://www.winehq.org/

I just had a look into the software for the 7220017 and looks like only a windows based installer in there.   you can download it here http://www.farnell.com/software/2883949.zip

You could certainly try getting it going with wine or a virtual machine before you purchase it thats for sure.

    Good luck!

I don't believe the Multicomp Pro works under Macs from what I can tell.

You could try looking at Picoscope products as well - their software works under Windows, Mac OSX and Linux as well and have been reviewed several times in RoadTests:

    • PICOSCOPE 2204A -  USB Oscilloscope
    • Picoscope 2205A Oscilloscope
    • PICOSCOPE 5444D MSO -  USB Oscilloscope

Thanks Enrico, users feeding this back via the online stores is still the best approach because it gives the necessary teams the information that a MAC OS version is wanted.

    Hello Chris,

anyway, I used the application under Windows to see how it is, and, frankly, it does not add any value to the device. The most interesting feature, instead, is the option to save data o a USB key (the front USB A host connector). You can save a base screenshot, very useful for documenting experiments, as well as saving a CSV set of data that can be used to make any kind of graph or comparison. There is also the possibility to save a specific series of curves that can be compared live with input signals.

    Enrico
