Are there any Linux or Mac software options or even the interface specification for the Multicomp Pro bench DMM MP730424?

There is a User guide on Farnell's website that tells you its RS232 and SCPI. There doesn't seem to be a list of supported commands or explanation of how the commands work. Since SCPI is not a tight standard you might need to do a lot of trial and error to do anything exotic (like downloading data from memory). If in doubt try the simplest method for a an HP/Agilent/Keysight DMM ! There is a 20Mbyte zip file to download on Farnell, which contains the same guide and some Windows software. You have to download and install NI VISA which would put me off it but others have different opinions. Farnell should be able to supply a proper SCPI manual for the instrument. For me, since Linux and Mac both support Python and GCC and serial ports - you don't need more software MK

You can do a test on your mac or linux: Create a serial session from your preferred terminal utility with these settings Then enter this command and press enter (you will not see what you type because SCPI does not echo): *IDN? You should get an ID string back from your device.
