Help with USB interface to switches integrated with Visual Basic

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Im looking for a USB interface to switches (keeping in mind probably need more than one interface) for about 60 switches that are normally open.
They'd have to integrate into visual basic to simply turn off/on. Im guessing there'd be no more than 3V and small current per switch.

Any solutions?

    Here is a possible solution:
    1. Get a USB/RS232 interface (or implement one:
    http://www.alanmacek.com/usb/#Host_Computer_Code
    http://1010.co.uk/avrhid.html
    http://www.obdev.at/products/vusb/index.html

    1. Build a microcontroller controlled HW which has an RS232      interface too.
    2. Realize 60 digital output ports (i.e. 8x8 digital latch) on      this HW.
    3. Write your application program for this HW: control the      individual output lines based on commands received through the RS232      serial line from PC.
    4. Write your Visual Basic program on the PC for issuing commands      to the HW trough RS232. (You can adapt the following VB  program to communicate on COM ports:
