GRUB Question

Are you trying to dual boot windows and the wrt54g firmware or have the router dual boot different firmware? If the second I know off hand that DD-WRT using the grub bootloader, I think the biggest issue would be the lack of storage space. Maybe use a script on a host pc to load different firmware versions to the router over serial?

as far as I am concerned WRT54G has one of Broadcom 4710, 4712 or 5352 chipsets and there is no version of Windows that would run on that hardware, so no matter how hard you try, you cant do that.

Actually Raivis I was planning on running the firmware of the linksys 54G on my windows computer not the other way around I've looked into a few "emulators" but all they do is mimic the GUI of the web interface not the actual hardware.

The firmware of WRT54G will not run on your x86 machine either and GRUB is not what you are looking for, you need something that is called emulator and in this case specifically emulator of WRT54G, which you will have hard time finding (if it exists at all).

GRUB is so called bootloader that is a small program that loads right after BIOS and before any operating system is loaded and assists in loading the latter. It is most often used if you have more than one operating system installed on your computer and want to choose on start-up, which one to load.

I understand that in fact i use GRUB everyday (Tri-boot OSX Windows and Ubuntu 11.4). I was wondering if i was to come across an emulator that will mock the physical hardware of the WRT54G if it would be concieveable to make into a standalone application i could launch with GRUB just like and other OS or if i would be better of just writing my own code.

Firstly no. well not easily, I don't know of any emulators for the broadcom series of chips. Secondly, WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO RUN THAT? if dev reasons then just bulk up (ebay) stock of wrt54g's and similar and prepare to brick 'em when your wrong like the rest of us do. sometimes we have to sacrifice.
