By the manufacturer of whom? The system? If it is then your company FA I guess. But if they are looking for chip FA, all you can do is send the failed chip to the supplier a.k.a manufacturer., but normally all you got from them is that the failure is caused by the system where it was integrated. Though they will tell you which part of the chip is not working.
Yes, I would like a failure analysis by Fairchild, the chip manufacturer. I was wondering how to go about contacting them to get a FA on the 74AC244SC. Do you have any contact details or can I do it through Farnell ?
I was hoping farnell does have a contact information of fairchild for technical support inquiries, so maybe element14 (farnell) can help you out reach the FA request to the manufacturer, contact them first, I guess as I don't have a contact with them, sorry if I can't help you with details on contact.
Hi chris
You could try contacting waynemorgan as they are a member of element14 who works for fairchild.

HI All,
For the record.................when a customer identifies a potential issue with a Fairchild part, the problem needs to be highlighted to the supplying distributor.
All the authorised distributors have their own internal quality systems that will link with Fairchild's process.
Why do we do it this way? Because in reality the distributor is our customer.
Trying to short cut the system usually ends in chaos. If parts arrive at QA desk without all the relevant documentation the likelihood is that they will stay there until all the paper work catches up.
So, for future reference, if you have any concerns regarding potential failure of FSC devices please initially contact the authorised distributor these parts were purchased from with as much relevant information (order numbers, failure mode, circuit diagrams etc) as possible.
Your distributor will in turn contact Fairchild in order to initiate the full failure analysis process.
BTW, this only works if the parts were originally sourced from an "authorised distributor".
best regards
Wayne
Thanks for the extra information Wayne.
So, we have a 74AC244SC which is failing. We have advised our customer that the device is failing only in systems delivered to them, not systems delivered to any other customers. They are asking for a failure analysis of the 74AC244SC. I have identified the manufacturer and the batch. The manufacturer is Fairchild and the batch was supplied by Farnell. On the Farnell website, requesting help directed me to the Element 14 page where I have outlined my request for help in obtaining a Failure Analysis.
So far, I have been unable to identify the method of interacting with the Farnell internal quality system that will link with Fairchild's process.
Perhaps the question I should be asking is "What are the contact details for the relevant person at Farnell for highlighting a potential issue with a Fairchild part ?
If anyone has this information, I would be very grateful.
