SD card replacement for reliable data storage

I am currently looking for replacement for SD card for data logging application. I need at least 512MB so SD card was considered, hovewer any solderable module or IC based solution will be great.

CompactFlash is easy to work with. I know it is another modular option, but the interface is a straight ATA(IDE). Plenty of examples out there on how to interface to IDE from a microcontroller.

Alternatively, try flash memory. Spansion S29GL01GP11TFIR10 may work out for you. On the plus side, they are extremely cheap. The interface on the other hand, harder to work with.
