I'm wanting to make a standard sized touchscreen keyboard

I'm looking to make a standard touchscreen keyboard that is fully customizeable.I would like go from the standard qwerty to a gaming "wasd" set up or even shortcuts for programs and switch to mouse capabilities. I have seen some of the touch keyboard that are out there but they seem to be a touch surface with keys set up im thinking more of a tablet style keyboard where it is even a tablet but more the size of a keyboard i would lik to do wireless but wired ok. thanks

    Ok This sounds like fun...image

     

    if you had four bars of plastic (from you local hobby shop). now here is the fun part

    you have to drill a series of hole in them along each row. OK? 1 x 1 resolution is probably ok. but you could try .75 or .5

    now you put IR Led's on one side like the top and the bottom.

    now you put IR Detector  on the other side.. OK?

    now mount the rails to the display, make sure that they all line up..

    OK now you can go have a beer.image

     

    So now you have this thing.

    so put a 330 ohm resister and power and ground the resister is to prevent kill your Led's.

    Ok so now they should all be working....  (have another beer image)

    Now the tuff part you have to wire the detector out puts to a CPU pin input.

    you will most likely have to use a I/O expander on the I2C bus.

     

    so when you put your finger into the display your computer input will be high only on two ports one Xn and Yn.

    Do a little math and viola. Now get drunk its done!image
