Need Help Identifying and Finding a Specific Componet

I have a bad LED 3 digit display and i have not been able to find one with the proper terminals to replace it with. The issue is all the ones i have found dont have the gap on the five pin side. Here is the info I have.

 

Over all display: 13.5mm X 22mm X 6mm (tall)

Digits: 7mm X 4mm

Pins: .5mm

Pin spacing (from pin center to pin center): 2.5mm

Display color: Red

 

On the side it says:

A303E-CL G/W

S0826 04 RoHS P

 

The display and digit size can fluctuate a little but the pins need to be the same as its for a pre-manufactured board.

 

If it maters its out of an Autometer Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite wideband air/fuel gauge.

    Looks like this may be the one (common Anode version). Unless you can find the same part number, you'd need to find one with the same pinout, but there are not many 0.3" 3-digit common-anode displays, and I didn't see any that matched that pinout. So, possibly you need to find that same manufacturer part.

    By the way, LED displays rarely fail (I've never seen a modern LED display fail, so are you sure it is faulty?).

    Yea I found a match on the element14 store and Mauser but the pins don't appear to have the gap on the 5 pin side. I am thinking about just getting one and trimming the two terminals and using some serial wire to route them to the holes before seating it on the board as theres a gap between the board and bottom of the display.

    I contacted the manufacture of the gauge and they wont supply me with the part or who makes them for them as they want me to pay $60 plus shipping both ways for them to repair a $5 fix.

     

    I hooked the gauge up to my oscilloscope and checked the pin terminals and they appear to be functioning properly. Only 3 or 4 random LEDs in the display don't light up and they don't appear to be in common with each other on the data sheets for the displays I've found.

    Also the inputs and processors are functioning properly as there is a secondary sweep display which is all the LEDs around the outer edge red/green/orange depending on display read out and they function properly along with an auxiliary out put for a data lodger that is functioning properly.

     

    Do you think my idea with the serial wire is worth a shot?

    I'm not sure, what is a serial wire? It may be possible to rewire in this manner, but I'm still not convinced that the LED display is faulty. You could test the LED display with a 9V PP3 battery and a high resistance like 4.7kohm (modern LEDs will show some brightness even at low current), and just manually connect to the common anode (as shown in the datasheet) and the relevant cathode pin for the segments that you believe are faulty, with the rest of the board unpowered. Also, I presume you've checked that the solder joints to the display are healthy?

    If the battery test shows the segments to work, then it's likely to be the control board which is (presumably) sending a serial data stream to the board to control the 7-seg display and all the surrounding LEDs.

     

    Otherwise, if you're sure it is the 7-seg display which is faulty, you could ask the distributors of the 7-seg display for the cost of a new display.

    The manufacturer has many distributors listed on their website.
