Need Guru help on relay

Former Member

am working on a project. need something that you can set how many revolutions (gear/cable driven)  or elect. pulses before completing connection (tripping) . needs to be able to set variable revolutions or pulses. once connection is made it then needs to reset ready to start over. anything like this?

Any help would be great.

Hello, I not pretend to be a "guru", but , if possible, I will help you to solve your problem.

May you explain, a little bit more clearly, what do you need to realize ?

For what I have understood, you need for an "intelligent" device that can be programmed for set / clear a relay contact under some external events, like rotating contact closure, or similar...

In the past, I developed a really cheap circuit, published on italian magazine "CQ Elettronica" that can be used for controlling 4 inputs and 4 outputs. The circuit would be programmed / debugged thru a simple Windows application (after burning the operating microcontroller).

All this job is VERY old, so the microcontroller involved is the Zilog Z8 (otp) and the debug / test application was developed with VB6, under WinXp O.S. but this can be a starting point. If interested, look at my blog at this url: http://ficara.altervista.org/?page_id=906

Actually, the project called: "Il quadrato perfetto - Piccolo PLC 4in/4out con micro Zilog Z8" has no links for downloading the hex file for Z8, nor the VB application, but I can restore the old data, if necessary. I also created a small, instruction limited version of this application using a "modern" ATtiny2313 (Atmel) processor, using LCD and 6 keys input to write / debug your application WITHOUT the need for a PC. You can program your application, store it on the non-volatile memory of the micro and run it just using the 6 buttons and the LCD display. There are only 2 inputs and 2 outputs... Hope it will be enough...

The "instruction set" is very limited. Consider it as an advanced "washing machine" programmer. You can program relay on/off events, time delays, inputs checking and not more that this... I can add the whole project to my blog if someone finds it interesting.

About the ATtiny projects, it's pure C, no Arduino, no wagons of unused code, no abstractions. Just old way to programming, aka digging inside every ram rom earom flash bit.
