I have a Sony MHCEC77 shelf component stereo with a 3-CD changer. I currently have no use for the changer and stream music to it via a Logitech bluetooth Speaker Adapter.
I'm interested in the feasability of removing the CD changer and putting some sort of computer/ssd in its place in the MHCEC77 enclosure. The unit is supposed to play MP3 CDs, but I am not interested in a mod that tries to make a module that appears like an mp3 cd, only in trying to use the power and audio connections to drive a raspberry pi or something that could mainly play streamed music, although being able to play from an SSD.flash type device and having a Wifi LAN connection would also be useful. There is a small fan at the back of the case, but I'd like to not add any additional fan noise.
Does anyone have a link to a blog post/web page where maybe someone has done a similar project?
I'm not sure what the transformer in a stereo system usually outputs, or a cd player/changer draws. Would a stereo's power supply be able to run a small computer/ssd without modification instead of the cd changer?
