Digital LED Counter Wiring for Thru Beam Sensor

Hello,

I recently bought a Reflective Infra Red Sensor and a Digital LED Counter for a packaging line. I wanted to know if I can wire a thru beam sensor on the same counter as that would fit the packaging line better.

Attached on this post are images of the Digital Counter circuit, 4 wires(Thru Beam Sensor), Sensor. Can this digital counter can accommodate the sensor ? Any help or suggestion would be great.. 

The goal of the counter is to count items. FYI, I am a novice with electronics and wiring
