TLP222A replacement?

opalko
opalko over 3 years ago

I am looking for a functionally equivalent optocoupler/solid state relay that will work in the same way as a TLP222A or TLP222A-2. Will something like a TLP521 work in its place? Are there other solid state relays that have 2 drains?

More generally, is there a 2022 version (online or otherwise) of the old hard copy semiconductor sourcebooks to view parts and their functions easily?

Thanks

    Hi,

That type of device still exists, it is known as a MOSFET Solid State Relay on the Farnell/Newark sites. Example is PVG612APbF series. Some of them are 6-pin instead of 4-pin (with a couple of pins unused), so although some may be electrically compatible, they may not be physically compatible (if you're trying to insert it into an existing PCB for instance).

I don't know of such a hard copy book, however some manufacturers are just famous for certain types of products, so knowing that can help narrow down where to look. In this example, Infineon is famous for MOSFETs and power control, so their website Products page directly lists Solid State Relays.

Looking at the datasheet it has a similar config:
