I have a basic question about the UltraZed-EV SOM (AES-ZU7EV-1-SOM-G Rev1.0) that I'm trying to set up for the first time. It comes with a separate fan/heat sink, which I have not installed before. The only documentation I see on this is on page 53 of the SOM Hardware user guide:
"The UltraZed-EV SOM comes with an example thermal solution of a 31mm Heatsink and Fan assembly. This active arrangement is secured directly to the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC via thermal tape and a 31mm clip solution that is pre-secured to the Zynq UltraScale+ device. A 31mm Heat Sink and a Sunon 5V DC Fan (PN: MC30100V1-000U-A99) solution are assembled and shipped with the UltraZed-EV SOM.
The 31mm clip solution arrives pre-secured to the Zynq device from the factory. Please review the installation instructions necessary to secure the heatsink/fan assembly to the clip provided on the UltraZed-EV SOM. The 31mm clip solution provides for a more ruggedly secure thermal solution versus thermal tape only if the end application warrants it."
..However, I don’t see any installation instructions on this. I suspect that I need to peel off the blue-ish plastic layer on the back of the fan/heat sink to reveal adhesive thermal tape, then stick that directly on top of the SOM. I assume no thermal paste is required? It looks as though it will only be held on by the sticker though, as the fan is about 1mm smaller than the opening on the SOM board. Perhaps another piece is needed for the clip to hold the fan/heat sink in place, and to align it properly?
If there are instructions I'm missing, please let me know.
