Tenma Tone Generator model 72-6065- schematic available? LED does not illuminate when in tone mode, LED OK in short finding mode.

My Tenma 72-6065 works as it should but the LED is very dim in the most used 'tone' mode.  Voltage across it is in the neighborhood of .5 volts when in tone mode.  Voltage is good in short mode with 2.1 volts across it and it is lit brightly.  Before I take the time to trace the circuit out does anybody have any ideas or is there a schematic available?  It's 20 years old and probably long out of production so I'm hoping that Element/Tenma will share the schematic.
