Aqua bots begin swarming waters for research and spying

Aquabotix has made a new appearance with scientific studies and some new advancements in their technology. The robotics company has come up with something totally new and different - something that will provide support for research and enhance it based on the drones' studies and what data they're able to gather. The name, SwarmDivers, suggests what it is - a micro unmanned surface vehicle (USV) and underwater unmanned vehicle (UUV) that dives underwater to gather data. The swarm of drones only requires one operator to allow the entire swarm to function and perform dives when the commands are given and are all connected and managed on the surface as a single entity.

The new technology is something that will have a great influence of change in the industry and the company. Before the installment of SwarmDivers, there was nothing to do what the drones are capable of doing available in the industry today. It seems the company has made a very significant change to that, as a result.

However, its main intention is to help in military and defense systems, while still being used for other purposes. The drones have the ability to implement some form of research, harbor management and even oceanography.

For military use, the system is able to coordinate assaults on a specific target by tracking, trailing and even overwhelming their targets. Using advanced tactics, the drone is also able to handle those dynamic situations due to its advanced engineering.

The use in oceanography enables the robot to study marine life and give some ideas as to what is going on underwater. In ideal conditions, it can be used to survey how fish act and can even be beneficial for those who love to fish.

The maximum length the drones can dive is 50 meters, weighing at 1.7kg and measure at 75cm which is quite small for an efficient drone. The implementation and use of the drone also has a low cost, ability to dive vertically, ability to operate both underwater and above water, wireless data feedback after recovering from dives, high accuracy temperature and pressure sensor, sustained surface operation and GPS accuracy for 1m of location.

Very cool. I doubt that they would win a gold medal in the Olympic synchronized swimming event, but still very nicely done.  There were a few scenes in the video where drones collided but they managed to get back on track.
