Any alternative for limit switch?

I am working with soot Blowers on a boiler. For a successful rotation of a blower, they have used a limit switch(with lever) which hit the blower's rotating gear. Its setting is quite tiresome I want to use any other senor any suggestions?

    You could use flow control monitoring sensors or even a simple pressure sensor to detect when the blower is running. DAB
