Explorer 16 Development Board Can this board be used with 16 bit and 32 bit core ?

Dear Team,

 

I am doing some kind of research for our product, currently planned to go with the 16 Bit PIC MCU which can have the high number of the IO pins. If its not suitable, would like to go with the 32 Bit MCU. So if i purchase the Explorer 16 Development Board can i use same development board for the Both MCU's.

 

Please can i get the clarification.

    Hi,

     

    Application is industrial automation,  requirement of 40 IO Pins and 20 ADC lines. I would prefer to go with PIC controller rather than the ARM, but no hard rule for me, which ever is best development board i can get, can go with that, for the initial analysis.

     

    It would be great if get suggestion on based on the above pin count usage, am glad to try with that.

    Very few micros have 20 ADC inputs which can actually be used all at once in a serious application.

     

    The STM32F427xx and STM32F429xx series can have 24 analogue inputs but you may find that if you use them all there are issues with conflicts with other pin uses.

     

    It is very unlikely that ST's low cost Nucleo board (NUCLEO 429ZI) will allow access to all the possible analogue inputs but you can check the data (from www.st.com) easily enough.

     

    There will be no shortage of digital IO pins.

     

    These processors are available (from Farnell) in BGA packages with up to 176 pins but the low cost dev boards use smaller packages. For serious work you need to be prepared to design and make your own boards.
