Is Industrial Automation Ready for 5G?

5G is starting to being rolled out on telecom networks so consumers can take advantage of faster speeds and low latency is they can see and do amazing stuff on their treasured smartphones. But what about 5G in the industrial space? Augmented and virtual reality tech will surely use 5G to their advantage in manufacturing. Smart engineers will use 5G in machine vision and motion control systems at some point. But are they ready for it?

  • There have been bunches of 5G signals in  Beijing Metro. Many mobile brands show off their new product in affordable price in stores.

    But I feel nothing different.

    Obviously 4G is enough for mobile video already. Maybe I am slow in mind, but I could not sense any new taste from 5G. If there is any, that would be sure a long way to go.

    Try to sell us new mobiles. That is OK, but Most likely, 5G is a publicity stunt only.

  • 5G has to be one of the most over hyped "innovations" ever.

     

    Until it has properly settled, the security questions (including Huawei) fully answered in detail and there is general availability, it's not going to be trusted for serious stuff.
